Nine songs down, and one to go for Volume II. I (Shane) just finished the song for Psalm 19 this past weekend, and I’m really excited about it for several reasons: 1.) Psalm 19 is one of the most theologically and poetically rich psalms in the Psalter. The first half describes God’s revelation of Himself through creation, and the second half describes God’s revelation of Himself through His Word. It then closes with a powerful prayer for purity in one’s words, thoughts, and actions in light of these truths. It’s one of those songs that you can’t really mess up nor do justice to. 2.) This song was co-written, in a sense, with my longtime friend, brother in the faith, and bandmate Chad Randall, now the pastor of Living to Go Church in northeast Arkansas. He wrote a song two years ago that begins with the lyrics of Psalm 19, and I couldn’t get that melody out of my head when beginning writing for this song. So, I took what he started and wrote the rest of the lyrics of Psalm 19 into it. So, it’s my first co-writing venture with The Psalms Project. I’m excited that Chad is now officially a part of this project. It’s only fitting considering all we’ve been through together.
With Psalm 121 recently being released as a single, we now have 20 Psalms down, and 130 to go!
