This week, I (Shane) finished writing Psalm 20 (one of my favorites of all the songs thus far), making the writing of Volume II: Psalms 11-20 complete. It’s a very exciting time now leading up to the next album, as the writing of Psalms 11-20 (particularly Psalm 18) has been a long, yet very rewarding road: the defiance of violence and perversion of truth in Psalm 11, the words of man vs. the pure words of God in Psalm 12, the despair that turns to hope in Psalm 13, the cry for salvation of the poor and afflicted in Psalm 14, the forgotten poem of integrity that is Psalm 15, the ecstatic vision of Psalm 16, the intense trial and its beautiful denouement in Psalm 17, the epic warfare and worship in Psalm 18, the ineffable beauty of God’s word and creation in Psalm 19, and the powerful prayer in Psalm 20 have all entered my soul and changed me in some way. Writing for Volume II began back in September of 2010 with Psalm 11, and now, nearly two and a half years later, Psalms 11-20 are ready to go to rehearsal. With anything you do, you want to take a step forward, and I feel that Volume II has the potential to be a better (perhaps even far better) album, than Volume I. We’re all really excited about beginning the pre-production and rehearsal process next week on March 14th, starting with Psalm 11. To Him be all glory, power, dominion, blessing, and strength forever and ever.
